How to find me at my new workshop

I have moved to Brockworth arts and craft centre. This is situated at the Brockworth Court and Tithe Barn. This is just off the M5, the A419 and situated between Churchdown and Ermin Street.

My workshop is situated at the back of the site-drive in the main entrance and park, walk past the entrance to the upholsterers workshop, you are in the main courtyard, look towards the stables on the left-there is a sculpture of a large iron horse!
 I have put my yellow and green signs pointing the way! these are only temporary and will be replaced with other ones at a later time!! I am in the barn at the back-my workshop is the one with all the stone outside!!!

Slate carvings

Well here are the 1st three in the series of carvings in which I am exploring ripples.

I have found it quite a challenge carving the slate and trying to create movement in such a solid material.

I hope you like them.

Latest carvings

Well I have 3 carvings on the go at the moment!

My largest slate carving of ripples should be finished by Sunday-I will post a photo as soon as it’s finished.

One of the other 2 is based on a sculpture by Rodin, but obviously I have changed it to suit my style of carving, it is a siren on the rocks with a large wave breaking under her. This is carved in Portland stone.

The final one was started before I went to Norway as a test to see if I could create the carving I did in 2 days. There are slight differences-I can’t carve the same thing twice. She is proving a challenge as I have the idea in my head of what she should look like. It’s just creating those features in the stone!!

So when these are finished you can see for yourself.

Events for 2010

Some of you may be aware that I am not organising a stonemasons festival this year due to my relocation.

These are some of the events that I will be taking part in

 The Highnam Court Spring fair stone carving event which takes place on the 24th and 25th of April.
Three Counties show 18th-20th June, I will be in the Forgotten Skills Tent demonstrating some carving. I will have a small selection of carvings for sale.
The York Minster Stonemasons Festival to be held on the 2nd weekend of August.

As soon as I have more details I will post them on my website.

European Stonemasons Festival

This year it is taking  place  in the Vosgues Mountains in Saverne just North of Strasbourg.
This will take place from the 28th-30th May.
