Christmas presents galore.

20 October, 2020 – 10:48 am

Hi everyone, you will be pleased to hear that I have started to carve again. I won’t be at full speed for a few weeks but I am carving again, Hurray. I have topped up my carved initial blocks and now I  have some commissions to get carved for my very patient customers.

I have been painting and creating my Christmas decorations and while I haven’t had the opportunity to carve any new pieces yet here are some of the carvings and creations that I have available for sale in my shop right now.

I haven’t taken photos of everything that I have but if you would like to see what else I have you can always email me and i will send you pictures or you can pop in if it’s convenient and obviously possible and safe.

I will be getting back on with the memorial at the end of November.

2 weeks to go

5 October, 2020 – 10:51 am

You will be pleased to hear that I am healing well and using my right arm more now, although simple things like typing, drawing and washing make it ache. I am going swimming this afternoon and I promise I will take it steady.

In 2 weeks time I will be officially able to pick up my hammer and chisel but it will take a bit more time before I am back to full speed. I am confident though that all my commissions will get done and I will have time to make some wonderful new carvings for you to buy in time for Christmas.

I am still not open properly yet but I am opening at the weekends and there is talk of some late night openings for the whole site in the run up to Christmas.

Thank you all for your best wishes and I hope to see you soon.

Update

25 September, 2020 – 10:09 am

As you may know I fell over and broke my elbow almost 3 weeks ago, naturally I have to manage the pain and movement but you will be pleased to hear that I am well on the road to recovery and hope to get back in the pool to help with rebuilding the strength that I am losing in my arm in the next couple of weeks.

I am going to open up on Saturday afternoon (26th September) from 12 – 4 to see how I get on, I won’t be doing any carving for at least 3 more weeks but I have plenty of lovely carvings available to buy off the shelf and obviously if you would like to discuss a commission then we can do that too.

closed for a few weeks.

12 September, 2020 – 10:19 am

Hi everyone, I am bitterly disappointed to tell you that I fell over last Monday and fractured the radial neck in my right elbow.

The healing time is 6wks but obviously I will have to take my time building up to full speed. My swimming and yoga will help but it will be at least another 3 wks before I can get back in the pool.

I am not in a cast and once the pain has settled I am encouraged to stop wearing my sling and start moving it within reason of course. I don’t want to do too much and set myself back.

I have informed all my customers and thankfully most of them are able to wait. I was making great progress on the War Memorial and as they don’t want it until Spring I will be able to finish that in good time.

I have all this time to practise my left handed drawing and I was training myself to wield my hammer with my left hand.

I look forward to reporting good news very soon.

Progress on the War memorial

6 September, 2020 – 5:03 pm

Sorry that it has been so long since my last update, I have been working very hard on the war memorial.

Here are a few photos from the last 4 weeks showing the developing carving and where I am as of today.

I still have some work to do on the drawing of the soldier before I can start the carving. His face will be George Hyett, I made a clay portrait from the photo of him so that I had a 3D model to work from.

There are also some more poppies to draw on and carve but I want to finish the rest of the carving first.
